Halloween Homes 2020

The 2nd Annual West Hills Halloween Houses on Display was judged by impartial professionals to find the scariest and the most comical Halloween decor in West Hills. This annual event is the brainchild of the Special Events Committee of the West Hills Neighborhood Council. Gary D’Amico, Special Effects Award winning designer, Elliot Maggin, writer and storyteller of the Superman and Green Lantern fame, Rachel Reilly and Brendon Villegas, reality television stars and CD12 Councilman John Lee judged 32 houses and selected the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the two categories. They saw houses that looked like a ride at Disneyland, a spooky cemetery, singing pumpkins, giant spiders crawling down the sidewalk and even flying ghosts across a front yard and much more. Sponsored by the West Hills Neighborhood Council and CD12, “the second year was an explosion over the first year” said Steve Randall and Myrl Schreibman, the co-chairs of the event. “The judges returned to home base after judging, saying that the creativity was awesome.” The houses were listed on the WHNC website and on West Hills California Facebook page for folks to visit and see some of the best decorated houses in West Hills. Hundreds of people, stopped by and or drove by the homes with their kids to make this Halloween Holiday a terrific one for the family. The event this year and was supported by Home Depot, the Halloween Costume Store, Party City, Green Thumb Nursery, Rock Paradise and Nuthin Bunt Cakes. The Special Events Committee is made up of WHNC Board members, Myrl Schreibman, Steve Randall, and Char Rothstein, Aida Abkarians, Faye Barta and Saif Mogri.
