Council File #21-1230-S5

Dear Councilmember_______

Please support the CHIP/Housing Element Draft #3 ordinance without Exhibit D approved by the PLUM Committee on November 19, 2024.  The Planning Department has identified enough zoning capacity on our commercial corridors to meet the State mandate without the need to rezone single-family neighborhoods.  This fact is supported by a letter dated November 18, 2024 from the State (Housing and Community Development - HCD) to Vince Bertoni, Planning Director, that states the Draft as currently written meets the HCD's requirements for aproval.  Thank you in advance for  your consideration of this very important issue.  I urge you to concur with the PLUM Committee's approval of the Draft #3 ordinance without Exhibit D options by voting "Yes" at the City Council meeting.

Respectfully,    Sign Your Name and include your address

WHNC 11/12/24 Letter to LA City Council PLUM Committee and City Council Members

At the September 26, 2024 Hearing the City Planning Department submitted a report to the City Planning Commission with their finding to approve Draft #3 without the Exhibit D options in the Housing Incentive Program.  The report said that there was enough zoning to meet the States' mandate for housing without the need to rezone single-family areas.  The City Planning Commission voted in favor of the report.

WHNC Resolution to Modify 2024-2025 SW Valley Community Plan

At the October 8, 2024 meeting, the Zoning & Planning Committee voted unanimously in support of DRAFT #3 of the Housing Element/Chip Ordinance, without the addition of Exhibit D Options.

UPDATE

We received notification that City Planning will be issuing a Letter of Compliance and their review will be made no later than December 8, 2024.  Per City Planning, no decisions have been made and currently the case is on hold waiting for the aplicant to provide required materials.  The more community members who send their opinions on the project will inform City Planning that this project is inappropriately planned next to single-family homes.  You may also include examples on how the Woodlake Apts. project will affect our community.  There are close to 2,000 signatures on petitions against the proposed project.  It is our understanding that Councilmember John Lee is also opposed to this project.
